These images were taken in January, 2015. At the time, the Boeing 737-800 with the registration number F-GZHD was being leased from Transavia France by Air Transat. This is part of a seasonal partnership between the two airlines that sees Air Transat lease planes for the busy winter Caribbean vacation season.

This plane first flew in 2008 and is configured with an all economy class layout, accommodation up to 189 passengers.

Air Transat

Air Transat commenced operations in 1987 and currently has a fluctuating fleet of 36 airliners in the winter and around 26 in the summer months. The airline currently boasts 82 destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.

The company is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Air Transat has had a seasonal lease partnership agreement with Transavia France since 2010 with Transat borrowing Boeing 737-800’s for their busier winter months.

The Air Transat fleet consists of Airbus A310-300’s, Airbus A330-200’s and A330-300’s, along with Boeing 737-700’s and 737-800’s. The Air Transat Airbus A310-300 is a living legend and the airline is one of the few to still fly these airliners. They are slated for retirement in the next few years, to be replaced by Airbus A321LR aircraft.

Transavia France

Transavia is a fully owned subsidiary of Air France-KLM. The airline commenced operations in 2007 after being founded by Air France. Transavia France is based at Paris-Orly Airport and is headquartered in Paray Vieille Poste, France. Currently, the low cost carrier has a fleet of 25 Boeing 737-800’s.

Boeing 737-800

The Boeing 737 line dates back to the 1960’s. However, the 737-800 first appeared in 1998. The airliner is 130 feet long with a wingspan of 117 feet and is 41 feet high at the tail. Maximum speed is 545 miles per hour or 877 kilometres per hour and flight range is around 5,700 km. Configuration for maximum seating accommodates 189 passengers.
